Cork Flooring is Natural
Natural cork products are harvested from the renewable bark of the cork oak tree, without cutting the trees themselves. These trees grow primarily in Portugal, Spain, and Tunisia. The cork is harvested approximately every nine years and amazingly, the cork bark grows back with no any harm to the tree. The task requires special tools and also a tremendous amount of experience in particular. The main component of cork is Suberin (45%), which is responsible for the resilience of cork. Suberin, a mixture of fatty acids and heavy organic alcohols, is the basic substance of cork. Impermeable to gas or liquid, Cork is also fire and insect resistant and unaffected by water.
